Asahi a écrit: | HIRATSUKA, Kanagawa Prefecture--A 54-year-old woman was sent to prosecutors Thursday on suspicion of murdering her 19-year-old daughter whose body was found in an apartment here with four other corpses, including two infants.
Police said Chizuko Okamoto admitted to the allegation and quoted her as saying, "I tried to kill myself after killing my daughter."
The body of Okamoto's daughter, Rikako, was found Monday on a futon surrounded by empty dry ice containers in a six-tatami-mat room.
The body of Rikako's half-brother, 35-year-old Minehiro Yamauchi, was hanging in a loft in the same room.
Both Rikako and Yamauchi had apparently been dead for some time. |
Shukan Shincho a écrit: | "Chizuko is being fully cooperative with the investigation into the case. If anything, she's talking like mad about it. The trouble is, everything she's saying is a lie. And that means the investigators have got to go around and check every little detail related to the case. In that way, they've found out what really happened, albeit bit-by-bit. Investigators have nicknamed her 'The Conwoman' and the chief investigator is getting fed up with her," an investigation insider tells Shukan Shincho, adding that there is one topic of conversation Okamoto has absolutely refused to touch on since her early May arrest -- the bodies of the two newborns found in the apartment. "Whenever the matter has been brought up, she's suddenly turned vindictive and spat out things like, 'Why are you bringing this up?' and 'They've got nothing to do with this case.' And that puts a brake on the investigation of the other deaths. The cops are going to complete the investigation into Rikako's death first and then go on to the others."
(...)
"When Minehiro's suicide note was first found, most people believed that the babies were his and Rikako's. But, judging on the state of Rikako's body, she's never been pregnant before. If that's the case, the only person who could have given birth to the children and kept their bodies hidden was Chizuko. The bodies belong to twins and they appeared to have died at around the same time they were born. Everything other than the bones had turned into a kind of goo. They've been dead for at least a year."
(...)
"Even though Okamoto and Minehiro had no blood ties, she couldn't very well go public that she was having a relationship with somebody not only 19 years her junior, but also effectively her stepson, could she? Chizuko was living on 70,000 yen a month and couldn't pay her rent, so it's unlikely she could pay for an abortion. That's why some believe she had the babies, then killed them not long after they were born," the police investigation source tells Shukan Shincho. |
