A noter que cette nouvelle rappelle que le Japon et la Chine collaborent avec la Coree du Sud aussi sur un autre grand projet informatique : un OS open source concurent de Windows.

IPv6 Network Between Japan, China to be Rolled Out in Mid-December

November 26, 2003 (BEIJING) -- An inter-country communications network using the Internet Protocol version6 (IPv6) technology is to start between Japan and China in the middle of December, at the earliest.

This news was revealed by the Beijing bureau of Nikkei Business Publications Inc. The network will be implemented jointly by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and China's National Development and Reform Commission. Both the Japanese and Chinese governments will collaborate to promote this next-generation network deployment.

As the necessary networking equipment for the inter-country network has already been procured, installation and cabling works are now in process towards the completion, scheduled for the middle of December. NEC Corp, Hitachi Ltd and Fujitsu Ltd have taken part in the project from Japan to provide technical assistance, including equipment installation and setup.

In addition to building the networking infrastructure, the two countries also will research applications development that will leverage IPv6 capabilities. At first, the transport commission of Beijing and other government offices for transportation will work together to conduct a field test of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) in the city. In the experiment, IPv6 addresses will be assigned to taxi cabs running in Beijing city to collect and send a variety of information to the center. Information will be gathered through the sensors attached to tires and windshield wipers of the cars. The collected data will be analyzed and utilized to provide such information as congested locations, weather conditions and efficient taxi routings.

A similar experiment was exercised in Nagoya city of Japan during January through March in 2002. Of the 7,000 taxies operating in the city, 1,570 participated in the experiment. In Beijing, on the other hand, about 63,000 taxies are operating. Although it is not yet known how many taxi cabs will join the test, it is certain that Beijing's test will be in a far wider scale because of the huge operating area.

The Chinese government is very interested in introducing the IPv6 technology in the country. The government intends to promote the prevalence of the technology in China by cooperating with Japan, which has successfully performed various IPv6 field trial tests so far. Japan, in turn, will be able to show another endorsed success story when China's IPv6 market becomes ready to start up.

Today, the governments of the two countries have been closely engaged together in the developments of various leading IT related technologies. Most recently, the joint project for the development of open source operating system is being carried on under the leadership of the three countries' IT policy-making ministries and agencies, with Korea joining Japan and China. The latest inter- country IPv6 network deployment project is the one to follow the movement.

En effet bien vu, je n'avais pas fait le raprochement.

Cependant l'article que tu as mis est un peu moins precis et me semble faire plus allusion a l'experimentation de telephone portable 4G qui sont la generation suivant les 3G actuels (qui permettent deja l'emission/reception de video)... D'apres ce que j'ai vu les 4G auront une vitesse de transfert encore amelioree.

Ces telephones 4G qui vont etre testes bientot en Chine et au Japon utilisent aussi le protocole IPv6, cette autre experience est donc une autre application qui utilise l'infrastructure IPv6 mise en place et dont il est plus precisement question dans l'article ci-dessus.

Plus que les technologies en question qui sont en constant renouvellement, ce que je remarque c'est l'excellente coordination et integration des ces technologies au niveau international notamment entre des pays souvent consideres comme "freres enemis" a cause de l'Histoire imperialiste et colonisatrice du Japon.

Il y a quelques annees encore entre le Japon, la Chine et la Coree une eventuelle collaboration reelle et durable sur des projets aussi ambitieux semblait irrealiste, mais aujourd'hui c'est deja une realite... Meme si il y a encore des analystes qui doutent de la "sincerite de ces partenaires", je viens de voir encore un article justement sur cette question : " is China friend or foe to Japan " (La Chine est elle l'amie ou l'enemie du Japon)...
